John Shap brings more than thirty years of experience working with technology companies to evolve innovative products into business solutions and over two decades of experience leading sales growth at enterprise software and Advanced Analytics companies. He oversees UBIX growth and further advances in the company’s proprietary products which leverage Machine Learning to help data scientists efficiently build models that accurately address business issues. Before joining UBIX, Shap served in leadership roles at Hyperion (acquired by Oracle), DemandTec (acquired by IBM), SPSS (acquired by IBM), and MarkLogic.

Rick Lamoreaux

VP Engineering

Rick Lamoreaux has been active in tech startups since the late-90s dotcom boom.  He was a founding developer for a network automation product that started as TrueControl and through a series of acquisitions has ended up as HP Enterprise's Network Automation product.  He also co-founded LetsPour, the one-time largest online Craft Beer retailer.  He joined UBIX as a senior developer and has since taken on the role of VP of Engineering. Rick has served in almost every role in software development, from coding to architect to management.  He is passionate about finding the fastest and best way to solve a problem, and his experience has been almost exclusively with small, massively over-performing teams.  He thrives on the challenge of finding the right path from vision to real-world solution. Outside work, Rick plays ice hockey with his wife, enjoys his gardens and cooking.  He lives in the Seattle area with three French Bulldogs and a flock of chickens. Oh, and Go Hokies!

Drew Minkin

Chief Data Scientist, VP Product Management

Drew first tackled analytics in 1991 with his thesis on interpretations of an ancient Chinese text used as a decision engine.  More than twenty years ago, this passion for the arcane and complicated led him to becoming a digital artist turned self-taught programmer to solve magic squares and generate Postscript visualizations. For the last ten years, Drew has built machine learning bridges inside Fortune 10 business analytics through real time solutions and mentoring hundreds of professionals in becoming data scientists. Adding ventures of his own analytics practice taught him the only thing funner than reading history was writing your own story. As his third startup, UBIX piqued the thrill of trying to change analytics history. In our brief time together, Drew already fulfilled many life-long dreams with UBIX, including leaving an executive role to be its first employee. The greatest dream fulfilled for Drew so far has been building bioinformatics for cancer genomics research.  But then again, Drew’s just getting started.

John Burke


John is a proven operator and technology executive with 20 years experience in fast-growth environments ranging from start-ups to public technology companies. He has served in the COO, CFO and Senior Financial roles at DYE Precision, St. Bernard Software, Global Domains, Visual Sciences and WebSideStory. John was part of the management team at WebSideStory that pioneered SaaS-based web analytics. He was instrumental in raising over $44 million in private equity and $50 million in the Company’s IPO. John oversaw financial operations during the Company’s growth from $9 million to $100 million in annual revenues. The Company sold in late 2007 for over $400 million.

John started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he served in both business assurance and financial advisory services. He specialized in mergers and acquisitions, business valuation and forensic accounting. He received his CPA while at PwC. John was honored as 2009 Public Company CFO of the Year by the San Diego Business Journal for his transformational role at St. Bernard Software.

John received his BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from San Diego State University. John was President of the Student Accounting Society and was honored as the College of Business Graduation Speaker for his graduating class.

Miles is a successful, serial entrepreneur and executive coach with over 25 years of operational, financial and go to market leadership experience with private and public software companies. Miles spent the last 4 years focused on creating companies that addressed existing problems within the Industrial, Manufacturing, Security, and Healthcare vertical markets for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) with Frost Data Capital.   Miles’ expertise and experience in start-ups, lean management strategies, and successful strategic investment transactions provides value to the boards and CEOs he supports.  Prior to Frost, Miles was CEO and Founder of Invest Idaho Innovation, LLC, the first ever foreign Investment fund focused on Technology and Innovation.  The fund was a $50M fund focused on early stage company investment as well to create a centralized tech-transfer and commercialization function to increase availability and access to investment capital for entrepreneurs and small businesses, better supporting new-firm formation and expansion.  Immediately prior to that, he held multiple leadership roles, President and SVP roles at Altair Engineering, SAS, BusinessObjects and Crystal Decisions.  Miles has a BA in Finance from Montana State University, where he played 4 years of college basketball and an MBA from Grazadio School of Management, Pepperdine.
