UBIX is built on a platform of four key pieces of technology, each of which is tightly integrated with the others, to provide a seamless experience. UBIX AutoCurious applies machine learning to machine learning, to perform the more mundane and obvious tasks within data science, those that are repetitive and easily learned by its meta learning layer. It is based on the principle that there are about 200 core data science tasks we must master in order to solve problems across industries, and by knowing how and when to ask for a “NUDGE”, where a data scientist or subject matter expert can provide a moment of insight - the irreplaceable flash of "HUMAN BRILLIANCE". UBIX AutoCurious learns from these user inputs, dramatically increasing the productivity of any investigation path, so that not only do the UBIX Advanced Insight Portals add immediate value from the first day of implementation, but UBIX is consistently learning and growing in capability. AutoCurious can:

  • be trained to perform specific data science workflows in a repeatable and scalable fashion
  • perform not just one investigation path, but thousands of investigation paths in parallel
  • learn from interactions and nudges across the user community

The primary purpose of mastering massive data and automating hard tasks is to make it easy for the enterprise to ask for and consume advanced analytic insights. This is where the UBIX interaction fabric shows its power.  First off, most insights can and should be displayed in the form of a visualization, or other chart. Making advanced analytics consumable and understandable means pictures! Lots of them. Out of the box, UBIX ships with 42 interactive visualizations and with our SDK you can easily extend to add new niche domain plots. But the display of a plot is just the first step. In the emerging world of visual analytics, users expect to interrogate and interact with the charts to get to the next advanced question. UBIX Interax and UBIX AutoCurious communicate constantly, enriching our visualisations with relevant paths to investigate from our UBIX QuestionGraph to provide a powerfully simple experience for the user.

Under the hood, UBIX leverages integrated open source big data stack (with Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, Kafka, Elastic Search), while offering a high level of abstraction (via an API) that exposes the strength of each technology and enables optimal usage of the core technology by applying best patterns and practices as a result of the team’s experience and expertise accrued over multiple person/years. In particular the technology stack allows us to 

  • Create full data pipelines: ingestion, transformation, predictive modelling, aggregations and statistics

Many of our customers have invested heavily in understanding the semantics of their data (via semantic index or schema), which is certainly a valuable exercise. However, we believe that understanding what is “interesting” about your data (as revealed by a semantic graph) only serves to provide a long list of things you should do about it… overwhelming possibilities emerge that will exhaust the existing data science teams simply trying to get the next project out of the door. UBIX AutoCurious takes a semantic understanding of the data and creates a QuestionGraph that maps to the data science tasks. The graph can contain many types of questions, each of which can be altered via parameters, and combined in different patterns to create investigative pathways. The result is a QuestionGraph which can answer billions of questions.
